Feeling a little down, I was on the lookout for some new punk tunes in the Triangle. Since Google is totally against listing punk bands in the area, or prefers to show sites that are years outdated, I decided to go to the streets where I found Double Negative(-/-).
Unfortunately for you girl jean wearin wankers, DN doesn’t offer many sing-alongs and they don’t have any cool merch for scene points either. Of course, who needs to worry about that when you’re on the dance floor ripping it up in the pit? Self described as ” An Absolute Racket”, DN is reminiscent of the old school hardcore and UK82 Punk era when the message was often more important than the medium. Influences of Black Flag, with their heavy and nimble bass riffs, the speed of the Varukers and the heart of The First Step can be found in each of these well crafted two minute songs. This experienced quartet of hard working Raleigh men are dedicated to cranking out the stripped down, emotional, musical legacy that each punk rocker grew up with.
Who knows when their next show will be but we suggest you offer a pinch support in hopes they help to raise the bar for punk in the area. God knows we could use a good kick in the pants.
