BUFFALO: Hallwalls
For those who love complicated, time relevant exhibits, Siebren Versteeg will be opening tonight with sculpture, projected video, and computer installation. “[His] practice includes interactive paintings, digital prints and sculptures that dissect the intersection of media, intention, and indeterminacy. In many of the works, extensive use is made of the Internet as a generative source of information and imagery. By developing precise algorithms that guide the flow of information, Versteeg models the movement and content of the ambient digital atmosphere into artworks that balance choice and chance.” Aka, he got stuck in the whole DotCom bubble and was subsequently horrified and simultaneously inspired to create work based on Information Technology and its existential implications with randomly generated data.

BUFFALO – Buffalo Arts Studio
William Koch and Amy Robinson Gendrou have combined their styles for killer opening. William Koch produces abstract compositions reminiscent of the surrounding cityscape using traditional and unconventional materials such as pastels, spray paint, crayons, markers, casting wax, solvent, oil, and coffee. His vibrant palette is indicative of the external beauty that masks our increasingly toxic natural environment.
Kleenex Shelter by Amy Robinson Gendrou was constructed through the meticulous process of stitching together tissues imprinted with typewritten journal entries to create a flowing sculptural sanctuary. The viewer is invited to wander through this delicate, yet surprisingly durable, structure and experience an intimate moment of privacy and reflection. Live music by Chris Campos to top off the evening.

ORLANDO – Bold Hype Gallery
Orlando based artist Scott Scheidly’s new solo show features Scott’s razor sharp style applied to a surreal landscape of distorted femme fatales, fantastical environments and a menagerie of other-worldly creatures. Scheidly’s realistic renditions of the unreal have a sublime quality that draws the viewer deep into alternate universes. Scott’s work in “Beautiful Oddities” is derived from his fascination with nature and unexplored worlds and their inherent trait of infinite possibilities. The Bold Hype gallery will mirror the otherworldly and surrealist theme of his work with a transformation of the space into a trippy garden party! Most of the work will be acrylic on wood, some oil and all the art will be for sale.
