For those curious about Durham’s past and future, for those who see the current juxtaposition of poverty and success that abound through the city, and for those who just want to see some (seventy) sick-ass work, this exhibition is for you.

In Room 100’s new exhibition This is Bull City, Seventy Sicks designer and visual artist Casey Robertson reveals his take on the twisted history of the City of Durham, asking viewers to look beneath the sidewalks and coats of fresh paint, to question everything, and to revisit their understanding of this city in the midst of another resurrection.

In the short time it’s taken for Casey to reach the age of 32, he’s lived in 13 states in the US. He’s traveled a little bit, read, and stared out of car, plane and bus windows for a significant portion of those years. Through those windows, he’s observed the characters, markings, detritus, victory and defeat of all things intrinsically American, and it is that imagery that informs and advises his work. The show opens tonight and we’ll be there if you’d like to share a beer, 2 straws not 1. Check out Nest of the Hawk for more info on the coolness that is Casey Robertson, and watchout! for SeventySicks.com
