Charlotte & Rachel Taliaferro

A few of us made the drive to Charlotte one last time before heading North, where we were guests on the set of an indie film called Clown ‘n’ Out (due out in 2010). Director/Actor David H. had the genius idea of casting Matt and I in the role of birthday party decorators alongside my sister who plays the lead. We laughed, we cried, we got to eat clown shaped cupcakes. While we were in town, we had some always-great-grub at Penguins, got stalked by the clerks at Boris & Natasha (steer clear), just missed local potter Andrew Linton at his studio, had a close-call with some old guy in his Caddy, and got the scoop on a new jeweler to the scene, Rachel Taliaferro.

Her copper and sterling work is mixed with ceramics and precious stone to put a modern twist on old Victorian. We heard through the grapevine that Rachel will be selling online soon, got schooled with our favorite DJ Epistemic Miscreant, and teaches at the Community School for the Arts. Enjoy the photos of her work, by Jason Perkins.
