There is a certain finesse in work and in sociability that I feel most commercial artists lack because of their need to create for money, work, someone else, that few who create for the sole purpose of creating possess. Emilee studies her subject, its curves and grooves and finagles the light to render it in a way that touches on its core foundations. As for the mug - it is the beautiful movement that it's stem creates that makes the image so appealing. For the theatre collage, it is her foresight into how individual elements work together to create a mysterious and mystifying experience. She has the talent and know how to alter colors and smooth a misguided line. the difference between her and the flamboyant photographer with a gang of models, is that there is no trace of photoshop. The photo collage of the theater was shot in typical 35-mm film leaving Emilee to rely on her natural given talent and attention to detail as far as development goes.
"I strived to highlight the important details of the theatre glitz. I used color film at night to pinpoint the glitz and colorful neon aspect of the theatre in the darkness of the night. I used black and white film during the day to show that the theatre is equally important, but lacks the excitement of the night life. My other photos also grasp the importance of color and form. Each photograph pops with color, but without blowing out the fine details
of an interesting composition," says Emilee.
Emilee is currently studying photography at Villa Maria College where she practices a broad range of photographic genres, but intends to focus on commercial/advertising with products as well as models. She will be displaying her work at Trimania, next Saturday, March 29th.

| You Fight Great, But I'm A Great Fighter |

Blood and sweat, but no tears in this ring. The boys from Buffalo, the Falls, Rochester, Geneva and Salamanca will be exchanging blows this Thursday at Michael's in Hamburg.
I spent a day with Lorenzo, who fights out of Thunder Boxing Club, and he assured me that the bout wouldn't be anything less than bloody and ruthless. The spit bucket at the practice already looked as though it contained vegetable soup and the mats were spotted with past sparring memoirs. The fighters set to participate in the match up have been in training all this year, no holds barred. This match features local Golden Gloves fighters who pride themselves on using the spit bucket between rounds.
Tickets aren't real cheap, but for those who appreciate a good display of pain tolerance, proper form and graceful technique, the price is non-consequential. Pick the seat next to Lorenzo's three-year-old son who has his eyes glued to the fighters from ringside seats, and isn't the type that cares about a little blood splatter staining his new polo. But don't show up with your whiney honey that shutters at the thought of a broken nose, or you'll be leaving with one.
