Valentine's Day chocolates and love making - phooey! We have our own ideas about copulation and aphrodisiacs. In celebration of the Hallmark Holiday and sappy American tradition, we'll be attending the Ukrainian American Civic Center's Pierogie Love Pub Night.
The Civic Center is probably the only venue to have gotten the Love theme right when they declared the party would be centered around Seventies attire. The seventies had to be the sexiest time of the century - women in hot shorts and sequined mini dresses with high heels and long ashes. Men were dressed in uber tight bell bottoms perfect for showing off their, er, rear ends and there were more hormones floating around than anti-war buttons. Pierogie Love Pub Night rep, Lukia Costello stated, "[People should] feel free to dress like a Kozak or Mike Ditka. Embroidered blouses highly encouraged."
Combine that slinky garb with a delicious concoction of filling tucked into a tender dough pocket and pan fried to perfection and you have some serious libido filling the building. The well reputed Mrs. Hanypsiak will be boiling then pan frying two varieties of pierogie goodness: cheese/potato and sauerkraut with a side of Borscht. Borscht is a beet soup made with sour cream that can be served cold or warm. Beetroot juice has long been considered an aphrodisiac because it is rich in the mineral boron, which plays an important role in the production of human sex hormones. Ready to see some immigrants engaging in fornication, mid meal?
Around 8:30, musical talents Jax Deluca, Bernice Marie and Joe Folmar will take the stage and set the mood for an all night dance party. Get down, get down.
