Gallery 1716 is the new gallery space is an addition to a recently converted loft apartment space near Lafayette and West Balcom, in a midtown area that was in dire need of some young culture, still a bit shady but flanked by the Anderson Gallery and Artspace. The show is named for the the battle cry of the Lost Boys in Hook, but can also mean uproar or disturbance in Jamaican slang and an exclamation meant to signify approval or amazement in English slang
